- 1.Devon Pool Bathhouse Improvements
- 2.Charter Review Commission Update
As many in the community are now enjoying the new Tremont Pool, this brand new facility is not the only part of our aquatics system that received some much-needed TLC. Patrons can enjoy the resurfaced slides at Reed Road Water Park, and at Devon Pool the diving well has been relined and some of the diving equipment has been replaced.
Looking beyond this year’s improvements, the City is continuing efforts to upgrade the facilities at Devon Pool. Next on the agenda are significant upgrades for the bathhouse, a project that is slated to begin this fall in preparation for the 2018 swim season. Improvements will entail upgrades to the existing facilities and an expanded footprint to meet today’s ADA and aquatics facility standards. This will include: showers, lockers, baby changing stations, a family changing room, improved facilities for staff, expanded storage, an improved concessions stand, as well as new shade structures and furnishings around the pool.
Approximately $1 million has been identified within the 2017 Capital Improvement Program for the Devon Pool Bathhouse improvements. If all goes according to plan, expect to see the results of a construction bidding process come before Council mid October and—pending the authorization to proceed—construction to begin by early November. Then, come Memorial Weekend 2018, as the community celebrates its Centennial year, we will also celebrate another significant improvement to our aquatics facilities.
We know how much residents love our community pools and so we are seeking your input on the proposed improvements through a community outreach process.
Public Meeting 1
Our thanks to the residents who were able to join us at our May 16 public meeting or who gave us feedback on the options through Open Town Hall (which was live May 17 through May 30). Your input is being used by our consultant to make revisions to the plan, and we look forward to sharing them with you in June..
